Here is the Doonesbury comic that multiple newspapers refuse to run.
Woman: Excuse me, is this where I get the sonogram?
Doctor: Yes it is, miss… Would this be your first pregnancy termination?
Woman: Yes.
Doctor: Then you’ll need to fill out this form. Please take a seat in the shaming room.
Woman: In the what?
Doctor: A middle-aged, male state legislator will be with you in a moment.

If you haven’t watched it yet, you should.

Really.

‎The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation.

For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you.

Thieves of Manhattan

If you like books, read it now.

A novel written in the style of a memoir by a cynical, cleaver writer who just can’t get published. An artist who’s brutally honest. Lying writers, publishers and agents.

It’s everything I wanted it to be.

Also the title is just bad ass.

“This is the time of year that’s apt to put
a hammerlock on a healthy appetite,
old anxieties back into the night,
insomnia and nightmares into play;
when things in need of doing go undone
and things that can’t be undone come to call,
muttering recriminations at the door,
and buried ambitions rise up through the floor
and pin your wriggling shoulders to the wall;
and hope’s a reptile waiting for the sun.”

But there are facts King admits to being baffled by.  One big one—the mere idea she’s a rarity on prime-time television. Thirty years after appearing as 10-year-old Brenda on the sitcom 227, King says she can’t believe she’s one of the few of women of color with a starring role on an hour-long drama.
